Here it comes. African super modern fashion design and fashion related art.
Maki Oh is named the label by Nigerian Fashion Designer Amaka Osakwe. Surprisingly or just
logically due to her studies in London, she succeeds in being relevant both in the European aswell
as in the African world. By making collections and also installations, she deals with African stuff like
ceremonies, identities, traditional way of clothing and is next to that inspired by European treasures
like Italian classical music.
In her collections the use and innovations of forms, items, prints and materials have a similar setup good European collection would have, while on the other hand there is a twist that is not really tangible or fully understandable for me as Europanized.
I guess it is something African, but it is also possible that it is maybe also just Osakwe. I cannot know that, but it is for sure, that it makes me think and wonder and curious. And that is definitely great and a big enrichment!!
